Woooheee! I got three new cast iron pans for Christmas so I figured I’d break one of them in with a delicious dessert. This banana cinnamon monkey bread is to die for. The biscuits are stuffed with bananas and tossed with a yummy sugar cinnamon sauce.
This recipe is super easy to make too! Its a bit tedious to stuff all the biscuits, but it’s worth it in the end. I’d say it’s about a half hour prep time.
The good thing about cooking this in a cast iron pan is that it stores the heat VERY well. When I originally took mine out of the oven, the bottom was not cooked through, but I let it sit for about 10 minutes and by the time I took it out of the pan, it was fully cooked.
Here’s what you’ll need:
So first things first, take the dough out of the package and cut each circle all in half. Flatten them with a roller and spread a slice of banana in the middle (of a flattened halved biscuit dough).
Fold the dough around banana, then roll it around to form a ball. Continue to do this with the rest of the dough.
Once you have done that, lightly grease your cast iron pan. Line the bottom with the balls of dough.
Mix the melted butter & sugar sugar. Here comes the best part – cover the dough with the butter/sugar mix. Mmmmm. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes! BAM! You’ve got banana cinnamon monkey bread, or as I like to call it, cast iron monkey bread. Just pull apart!
