I follow a lot of fellow foodies on instagram, but I have to admit, Living Lou‘s is amazing. Always filled with great photos of delicious food! Her photography is top notch and definitely one to follow. Thankfully she agreed to be
my next Feature Foodie!
Name: Louisa Clements
Tell us about yourself: Digital gal by day, food blogger by night. I’m a Toronto native with a serious love for food. Flavour is my game and I’m passionate leading a balanced lifestyle that celebrates all things food and inspiring others to follow suit. I’m also an aspiring Renaissance woman, film nerd, (I studied film and media production in university) and avid snowshoer.
What made you start blogging: I started Living Lou two weeks after my 17th birthday, so I’ve been at this food blogging thing for almost seven years. At the time, I didn’t really know what I was doing, all I knew was that I loved food and wanted a creative outlet. Now I can’t really imagine what I would do if I wasn’t blogging! Even after all these years, I’m still in love with the creativity and the process.
Cooking or takeout: Both! I love to cook and am always testing recipes for my site, but sometimes you just can’t beat Indian or sushi takeout.
Your go-to snack: Popcorn with salt, chill powder and smoked paprika.
Sweet or salty: Salty (followed by something sweet).
Favourite cheat meal or indulgence: Thin crust pizza and a glass of red wine.
Favourite/Go-To meal to cook: One of my standby recipes is just a simple pasta with cherry tomatoes, chill flakes, garlic and lemon. (recipe: here)
Ideal dinner (if you could have ANYTHING): If I’m going out to eat then definitely pho. Or maybe duck confit. My tastes are all over the place!
Something you haven’t tried yet: I can’t believe that I’ve never tried peking duck!
Favourite restaurant: There’s this great Indonesian restaurant in Toronto called Little Sister that is one of my favourites.
Favourite thing to cook/bake: Ginger molasses cookies, I could eat them all year.
Worst thing to cook/bake: Any kind of layer cake with icing.
Road trip snacks: Homemade granola!
Work lunch: I bring soup or stew probably 85% of the time, it’s so easy to cook on a Sunday and throw in a thermos.
Best place to travel for food: Out of the places I’ve visited, either France or Italy. But I’m dying to go to Peru and Vietnam.
Worst thing you’ve eaten: I know it’s hard to believe but I’ve had some pretty terrible pizza before.
Best thing you’ve eaten: Rigatoni with a slow-cooked ragu sauce in Positano. Best meal of my life.
Pro-Cilantro or No Cilantro: Pro! I love cilantro but am “meh” on parsley.
Finally, favourite snack for binge-watching: Popcorn and peanut M&Ms.
