Oven Dried Strawberries | Keto Candy

by hungryelephant

One of the toughest things to do when going from a regular diet to a keto diet is getting rid of sugar – and if you have a sweet tooth, you may really miss candy. Thankfully here is a totally keto friendly, no sugar added keto candy – oven dried strawberries!

Several oven dried strawberries - still bright red but thinner than an average slice of strawberry - sitting on a white counter.

These are actually so so easy to make and only requre one ingredient – strawberries! There’s no added sugar and no other ingredients.

I first saw this recipe on Tiktok and it was marketed as “better than Twizzlers”.

Now for my honest opinion – is it better than Twizzlers? Absolutely not.. In fact it doesn’t even taste remotely similar to a Twizzler. When I first took a bite – it actually brought my back to elementary school and strawberry Fruit Roll Ups. They taste EXACTLY like a fruit roll up. So these oven dried strawberries will go great with kids!

Fruit Roll-Ups!

In you are wondering – YES strawberries are keto friendly but in moderation. So eating an entire bushel of strawberries – big no.. but a handful are safe to eat and shouldn’t throw you out of ketosis.

How to make oven dried strawberries (aka keto candy)

There’s nothing crazy about this recipe but it does take a while. Baking these strawberries at 210F for 3 hours should dry them up so they are nice and crisp.

It’s highly recommended to slice your strawberries about a 1/4 inch thick. Anything more won’t dehydrate properly and anything less may burn. Bake them for 3 hours, flipping over half way through. and voila! Delicious!
